Adam: Bikers Convoy

TODAY Adam is leaving for his 561km journey from my hometown in Muar, Johor, to famous tourist island Pulau Langkawi in the northern part of the peninsular Malaysia.

A journey that will take seven hours to make (and I am talking about rough calculation of a car ride minus the stops whatsoever)… I can only imagine how long the convoy will take to reach the island plus ferry ride. I shudder to think.

I was beyond nervous and apprehension…

Deep down the selfish me wants to stop him from going.

He is only 19 and he is about to embark on this long journey that not many adults have had taken.

Then I was thinking I am an adventurous person myself. Surely he gets the genes from me and how unfair it is for me to stop him from doing what he wants to do…

But as D said…”Let him go and stop worrying. Adam will be fine. Let him have this adventure. He is a boy after all.”

And that comes from a guy who toured Europe solo on train rides when he was 16 and started taking train rides on his own when he was only eight…

As I have to leave early for work I was worried about everything. First he misplaced the little screws for his Kawasaki Ninja fairing kits. Of all things he had misplaced those little bolts and screws…

Then the bag he ordered to put his clothes and other stuff for the trip didn’t arrive on time…oh dear…

Some parts of me hoping that he will cancel the trip due to teething problem that he faces…

But as I am busy working at the office, I received text from Adam telling me that he starts his journey and making the first stop in Seremban. A mere 15-20 minutes from our home in Nilai.

By midnight he texts me telling me that the convoy is making a stop in Tapah… and he promises to text me at every stop that he will be making along the North-South Expressway throughout the journey even though I will be asleep by then…

What a sweet boy God has blessed me with…

Before I went to sleep I texted him telling him how much I love him and wish him loads of fun and asks him to keep safe throughout the 4-day trip and he answer are that precious words… “I will and I love you too mom…”

By then I know that I have very a determined boy… and I will say my prayers that God will keep him safe to and fro and I will be waiting for his return on Jan 1st… Insha Allah… A
