Ezra Simanjuntak

I MET Ezra when I was this wide-eyed journalist who loved everything when comes to music.

I couldn’t remember exactly how we met. But I remember vaguely that I interviewed him for his unique journey in music.

With his long black hair…rings on every fingers, Ezra was an epitome of rebelliousness. Something that I could relate to very well.

The friendship formed. Wonderful platonic friendship that resulted in me traveling to Jakarta to meet up with him so he could introduce me to top Indonesian musicians such as poprock group Slank and thrashmetal Rotor. Yeay!!!

However we drifted apart though I got to know his younger brother who was studying in Kuala Lumpur then.

And a week ago as I browsed my LinkedIn connection I stumbled upon his profile/account.

I was beyond excited!

After more than 20 years I found him! My one and very unique, not to mention gifted friend Ezra Simanjuntak!

First message from was him apologising profusely for not replying to my message much earlier. Which was not a big deal for me really…

Then we get to chat and exchanged a series WhatsApp messages… catching up the lost 20 years of our lives…

We both been through quite a lot in that 20 years gap…

But the main thing is we both survived it and come back stronger and a bit wiser…

He also shared his pic with his gorgeous wife and daughters! and I shared pic of my son Adam… We are just so happy to be in touch again…

As this post is WIP… expect continuous ramblings in the near future when I manage to dig out my article on Ezra published by The Star eons ago… A
